Speaking before their latest loss, Morrison retained hope of reaching the latter stages but admitted that the games against Denmark and Sweden were “very important”.
But Madeleine Dupont’s rink was in control after scoring three at the fourth end to lead 4-1 and, when the Swiss skip also scored three at the seventh end, the Scots conceded to fall to a 9-2 defeat.
It was another blow to Morrison’s hopes after losing 8-6 to Jessica Smith’s New Zealand, for whom it was their first-ever win at the world finals after losing all their games in their debut last season.
The Scots, who went on to lose 8-2 to Olympic mixed doubles champion Stefania Constantinire’s Italians, next faced the team led by 2018 Olympic champion Anna Hasselborg.
As the Danes were beating the Scots to secure their third win, the Swedes were sweeping aside New Zealand 8-2 to record their first victory of the round-robin.
Hasselborg’s rink are currently ranked fifth in the world, with the Scots team of Morrison, Jen Dodds, Sophie Sinclair and Sophie Jackson 17th and having finished 12th of 13 teams at last year’s finals.
Silvana Tirinzoni’s reigning champions from Switzerland, who are looking to lift the title for a fifth consecutive time, have a 100% record after edging out Turkey 8-7 for a fourth straight victory.
The Italians and Rachel Homan’s world number one rink from Canada have also won all four of their matches so far.
